One of Van Lanschot’s four strategic objectives is to maintain a solid profile. This means that we maintain a strong capital base and liquidity position at all times, and only take risks that we can understand, quantify and manage.
Our strong capital base and liquidity position are, amongst others, reflected in:
- A 87.8% funding ratio at 30 June 2011*
- A stable level of customer deposits within the funding mix
- A diversified wholesale funding base
Funding mix
Funds entrusted account for 68% of Van Lanschot’s funding. Van Lanschot aims to have a long-term relationship with its clients, which translates into a high stickiness of customer deposits.

Diversified wholesale funding base
Van Lanschot has a diversified funding base; term funding has been attracted via senior unsecured notes, subordinated loans, asset based funding and long-term repos. In both 2010 and 2011 Van Lanschot successfully issued various securities on the wholesale market which have contributed to the diversification of the funding base in terms of source and maturity.

*Funding ratio: the extent to which the loan book is funded by the funds entrusted by clients.
